Climate change already affects the water cycle. The roller coaster between very wet conditions (too wet!) and drought poses a challenge to farmers. Adaptive solutions include: soil regeneration with the Neosol activator.

Soil is the interface between the roots of the plant and water. Its ability to absorb and store water is essential to efficiently sustain crops during dry periods. And hence the importance of promoting humus synthesis with the Neosol soil activator.

Neosol is a formulation of prebiotics containing trace elements, plant-based biopolymers and dry seaweed extract. Neosol allows soil microflora to feed better by more efficiently decomposing organic matter, especially substances rich in large carbon molecules (lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose) to form humus.

Promote water infiltration to improve storage

Humus improves soil structure, including porosity, which influences water circulation (infiltration and capillary rise) and crop rooting quality.

By stimulating humus formation, Neosol increases soil drainage capacity and sparks crop root system development both in terms of density and depth.

And the more developed the root system, the more the plant is able to use water available at greater depths. For example, in sandy-clay loam, increasing rooting depth by 30 cm is equivalent to a gain of 45 mm of useful water reserve.

Another advantage of humus: acting like a sponge, it has the capacity to retain up to six times its weight in water in the soil.

Therefore, promoting the synthesis of humus in the soil delays the wilting point of crops and the onset of water stress.

In multi-year field experiments with the Neosol activator, data show a 34% increase in the water storage capacity of soils, especially at depths below 30 cm which are less likely to dry out.

Treated soils are therefore able to retain more water from precipitation, making it readily available for crops.

Regenerated soils for more profitable crops

Beyond better management of water resources that have become less dependable, Neosol also helps reduce operating costs while promoting better yields. How ?

The superior soil structure obtained by regular use of the Neosol activator has many positive outcomes. First of all, it reduces the number of tractor passes required to prepare seedbeds. Also, looser soil creates less drag on farming equipment which means less wear and tear and fuel savings of close to 15%. Lastly, the increased root volume induced by a more open soil structure allows plants to make better use of bioavailable mineral resources resulting in fertilizer reduction in the vicinity of 30 to 50 kg per hectare of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

These economic and environmental advantages further underscore the relevance of the Neosol soil activator. Faced with climate change and the urgent need to take better care of soil quality, Neosol bolsters agronomic practices aimed at regenerating soil.
